I'm about to begin a new eight week challenge that has to be called the "Summer Bipolar Smoked Chaquita Rabbit Trifecta".
Let me explain, if I can...
Anyone who's been following this blog knows I've been doing a Jon LeTocq program with the cheesy acronym FLAB (Fat Loss Action Blueprint). Cheesy, perhaps...but very intense and effective. No question about that. You may also know that from time to time my partner in crime, MikeZ, aka Smoke D. Blowfish http://smoketheblowfish.blogspot.com/ and I will challenge each other with various goals, whether it's pounds lost, timed shaved off of our mile, or how many hot Italian sausages from Notolli's in downtown Chicago we can each consume in one sitting. (hypothetically, of course)
Well "Smoke" issued a "July Bipolar Challenge" that looks like this:
CB's Kettlebell 555 Challenge
200 Kettlebell Swings
100 Prisoner Squats
50 Stability Ball Rollouts
100 Bodyweight Squats
105 Push-ups
for time
Then, after a 5 minute rest: a 2 mile run for time
Best total time for Kettlebell 555 + 2 mile run wins.
And of course I responded with: "I'm in."
(sometimes I speak before I think)
Tomorrow morning I'll be taking my first shot at it to get a baseline time to beat. Haven't run two miles straight for time in a gazillion years, so this will be interesting.
But that's just for July. I plan on doing the JLT program through the summer and I'm sure Smoke will want to continue in some fashion, as well. I'd like to also try and lose about 8 pounds each month...so we may have to have a "total weight lost" goal as well.
(Advantage "Mr. Funner"...Smoke's 6'2 and lean & mean already. I'm not.)
We'll have to wait and see what the August challenge turns out to be. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
But to make it even MORE interesting, I've invited a friend from "up north" to join us this summer to add a new dimension to our "challenges". This friend has several things in common with both Smoke and me: she's a Turbulence Training (TT) advocate, she runs HIIT sprints on an incline AND she has a desire to try new intense maniacal pulse pyramids, brutal bodyweight circuits for time and killer mutiple tabatas in one session...all in an effort to get fitter and have some fun doing it!
That's where the "Chiquita" part comes in: Cath from The Chiquita Chronicles, http://the-chiquita-chronicles.blogspot.com/
is joining us and jumping in with both feet: she did her first Bodyweight Pulse Pyramid today! And it sounds like she worked up a bit of a sweat. I'm looking forward to hearing more about her thoughts, opinions, and expletives about the JLT program...
And flattered that she would join us!
Let's see...oh yeah, that should explain everything except the "Trifecta" part...well, there's three of us this time around...
Each will have their own specific goals (we'll be posting them shortly to make us accountable to each other) and we'll have joint goals as well. Just like the Kentucky Derby, see if you can pick the 'winning' 1-2-3 combination!
Hint:
[We'll ALL be making our own luck...so everybody wins this race.]
Stay tuned for more to come.

Now that we've added someone from NOB (north of the border...not to be confused with 1 Noob), do we convert miles to km? If so, I'll need a special "conversion card" so as not to impede my running "prowess".
So you started her with the evil pulse pyramids? Awesome circuit...if not truly dark. That circuit combined with a 10 minute run = at least one change of workout clothing per session.
Cath picked the pulse pyramids herself, I didn't start her out with it. Told her "any 3 session each week". I think she thought they sounded like "loads of fun" from one of your previous posts on them...(Is that right, Cath?)
So here's the deal: vitrual July and August challenge = total weight lost.(Lbs, not kilos...conversion is 2.2 lbs = 1 kilo) Along with that, intermittent challenges allowed, such as the "Fred Fiesta" or one of your insane "Nutbag Workouts", participation optional, as always. I'm sure cath will concoct one of her own as soon as she thinks she can crush us...(Cath?)
What do you think? (FUN TIMES GUYS!!!)

@Mike- LOL I'm the NOB NOOB! LMAO! Oh man, ok... nope, no need for conversions... stick with what you guys have been doing! :)
@Fred - pulse pyramids sounded brutal!! So yup, I tried them! Just wait till I start doin' them Smoke style @45secs each period! Sounds good with the optional challenges. :)
SOUNDS GREAT!! :)
I'm putting some new/old circuits up on my alternate blog "Stoke the Bodyfat". Some bodyweight stuff for Primal Mama. She's here in the states for a few months and doesn't have any weights...seems to think she's missing something and bw stuff is not enough. Not enough? The JLT BW circuits make you want to go back to lifting weights.
